A Wonderful Success: Wonders of The First CCG Public Preview Day Recap
It was a crisp, sunny day as a bustling line of people waited outside Firefly Toys & Games in Columbia, South Carolina to be among the first to publicly play the Wonders of The First Collectible Card Game.
This past weekend, Feb. 25th, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the Wonders team as we introduced our card game to the public for the first time with the collaborative partnership of Firefly Toys and Games. The event exceeded all of our expectations, beginning with an early setup and a welcoming sight: a queue of eager participants waiting outside the door to be let in.
Anticipation had been building about the potential turnout, but the reality surpassed our wildest dreams. More than fifty trading card game enthusiasts gathered to immerse themselves into the Wonders of The First CCG, offering them an unparalleled first time glimpse into this fresh gaming experience.
The day kicked off with Romall Smith and Rider Tinsman leading a demonstration game while lead game designer, Brian Tinsman, detailed the mechanics of the game. Impressively, many of the players had already begun delving into the pages of the rulebook, keen to start their adventures as Stoneseekers.

The event wasn’t just about gameplay, however. We offered prizes, free food, and gift cards to all who participated, creating an atmosphere where players who could have easily played a single game and left, chose to stay, dedicating hours to test, retest, and refine their strategies. The dedication was palpable, with several gamers staying from the opening moments until well past our wrap up time. The air buzzed with excitement, joy, and the camaraderie of friendly competition.
The event also served as a meeting ground for our vibrant Wonders community. Not only did we welcome familiar faces from our Discord, but we also made new connections. The day concluded on a high note, with the team signing autographs and founder, Jeff “Frenchie” himself, distributing playtest decks like Santa Clause to the most dedicated fans, allowing them to take home a piece of the experience.

Feedback was also a crucial part of the day, with our team conducting interviews and gathering insights to refine the game further. Brian Tinsman’s observation highlighted the event’s success, noting the rarity of such a positive and connecting playtest session. His words resonated with us: “We have something special.”
Altogether, the weekend served as a testament to the potential of Wonders of The First and the incredible community supporting it. We couldn’t be more energized by the feedback and enthusiasm and are already looking forward to the next opportunity to share our game with the world – we hope you join us on the journey!
