Into The Abyss We Go
Greetings Stoneseekers!
As evening falls on Day 2 of the Wonders of The First Kickstarter campaign, a chill fills the air and your spine begins to tingle. A skeletal hand beckons you to play the demo deck Into the Abyss.
Into the Abyss is one of ten print & play decks available via PDF to download from the Wonders of The First website. It is also available on our fan-made tabletop simulator (which is live streamed in our Discord.)
The strategy of this deck focuses on filling up the Abyss (discard pile) with the dead and undead. Cards like Autumn Essence Animated, Keeper of Drury Skulls, and Cryptreach Province pull cards from the top of your deck to fill up the Abyss.
This powers up cards like Baern Bal’Thor to become huge, and gives Flying Suzzer the ability to kill almost any enemy. Better yet, it can put The Remains of Barnabus in the Abyss. This Wonder endlessly returns from the Abyss to any realm you want, round after round.
If you have The Remains of Barnabus, may we suggest sacrificing it to Charging Polpo or Stealthy Spriggan. Barnabus will rise and shine right back to any realm in a few moments, happy to do it all over again.
We also suggest the deadly trio of Stealthy Spriggan, Boneharvest Harp, and Darkiron City. When a Wonder plays the harp, it summons a skeleton to the Spriggan. The Spriggan causes the skeleton to be sacrificed, which untaps the harp player. With each sacrificed skeleton, Darkiron City allows you to deny 2, which means put the top 2 cards of any deck into the Abyss.
With these three cards, you can focus the deny ability on your opponent and run their deck out of cards, which is one of the very few ways to win the game before the 7th round. The harp music adds extra enjoyment to the despair.
